The Simon XT and XTi Panel comes with a female voice that addresses you with status updates and alerts. While some people like this feature, it’s not for everyone.

Unfortunately, there are no other voice options that allow you to change the pitch or accent of the Simon XT’s voice. However, it is possible to change the volume of the voice or mute it completely.

Adjusting voice volume on Simon XTi

  1. On the main menu, tap on the gear icon to enter the settings menu.

  2. Tap on the down arrow to scroll to the second screen.

  3. The last line is for “Voice Volume.” Use the left and right arrows to decrease or increase the volume. Four white bars is the loudest, and zero white bars is muted.

  3. On the second page, the first item is Motion Chime. You can press On or Off to choose whether you will hear the chime feature or not. (The green icon indicates the option is selected.)

  4. On the third page, the first item is Beep Volume. Use the left and right arrows to decrease or increase the volume. Four white bars is the loudest, and zero white bars is muted.

Adjusting Simon XT chime and voice alerts

On the Simon XT, you have a choice of three different Chime sounds.

  1. Voice chime – The control panel announces the sensor name.

  2. Soft Bell – Sounds like a low doorbell and no voice is announced.

  3. Loud Bell – Sounds like a high doorbell and no voice announced.

  4. Press OK.

  5. The display will read Access Codes.

  9. Scroll down to Voice Chime.

  10. Press OK.

  11. The current value of this option now flashes (1, 2, 3, or off). Scroll down to the desired value and press OK.

To turn off Chime completely, press the status button 5 times to exit programming. Then, from the home screen, do the following:

  1. Scroll down until the display shows Chime.

  2. Press OK. The current setting will flash.

  3. Scroll down to toggle Chime on or off.
