Smart locks are a versatile and sensible addition to any home. Not only are they compatible with Brinks Home™ systems, smart locks provide easily customizable options you can program to meet your individual needs. Whether you’re utilizing the controls from your Brinks Home Touch panel at home, or via your mobile app while on vacation, smart locks offer flexibility while assuring your security. Here are three ways you can make sure you’re getting the most out of your smart locks.

1. Picking an option that’s right for you

Brinks Home offers a smart deadbolt and a smart lever lock. The smart lever lock replaces a locked doorknob and can have up to 16 personalized key codes, and the smart deadbolt allows up to 30. Individualized codes can be programmed for all of the important people in your life. By setting up notifications you can get an alert when a lock is unlocked by specific users and keypads make entry a snap. Whether it’s ensuring the dogwalker got your furbaby securely inside or seeing your college freshman came home to do laundry, Brinks Home’s smart locks make it easier for you to monitor your home.

2. Syncing with your smart home system

Smart locks are adaptable and pair with a smart home system. Whether your home is centered around Google’s line of home automation or Alexa takes care of your digital needs, Brinks Home gives you the option of turning your house into a smart home hub. Once you’ve paired your Brinks Home system with your digital assistant, you can easily use tools such as Voice Command to lock or unlock your doors. Whether you have your hands full hauling in groceries, or you’ve suddenly remembered, while giving the dog a bath, that you didn’t lock the door, hands-free control of your smart locks can be a lifesaver.

3. Smart locks are user-friendly and customizable

Smart locks are operated with AA batteries, making them easy to install and replace, with no hardwiring required. Additionally, your smart home panel warns you when batteries are low so you can promptly change them out. As a part of your Brinks Home pro-installation, you can rest easy knowing they were installed by our technicians. Or, you can install them yourself as part of a DIY solution. Depending on your preference, smart locks retain the option to unlock with a key, just in case some users are too young or have trouble remembering a code. Once installed, you can set rules, or, specific security actions, that work with Geo-Services in case someone forgot to lock the door on their way out. For example, you can set a rule that automatically secures your home upon sensing (via Bluetooth) that all family members have left the premises.

Smart locks are a simple and effective way to keep your home safe and secure, completing your security and smart home suite of products with Brinks Home™.
