IQ Panel 2—Tamper Error

Summary: A tamper error occurs when the panel detects that the cover is not securely attached. Follow the steps below to safely power down the device, resolve the tamper error, and clear any related alerts.

Step 1: Power Down the Device for Safety

  1. Swipe down from the time display to open the drop-down menu, then press Settings.

  1. Press Advanced Settings, then enter your master code.

  1. Press Power Down, then Ok to confirm. The IQ Panel 2 will power down.

Step 2: Open the Panel

Remove the bottom screw, then press both bottom tabs to remove the front cover.

Step 3: Prepare the Panel to Close

Ensure the battery, battery wires, and antenna are secured into their appropriate compartments and are not obstructing a snug fit. If there is an optional screw, remove it before proceeding.

Step 4: Close the Panel

  1. Align the panel slots with the 4 tabs at the top of the backplate.
  2. Press the bottom of the panel against the backplate to snap the two tabs into place, then press the top into place to secure it.

Step 5: After Closing

  1. Hold the power button on the right side of the panel for 3 seconds to power it on.
  2. Acknowledge prior tamper notifications to clear the alert.
  3. If the panel is not fully closed, an audible alert will sound every 30 minutes. To disable this:
    • Open Settings from the top drop-down menu.
    • Select Advanced Settings and enter the default installer code 1111.
    • Go to Installation > Security & Arming and uncheck the box next to Panel Tamper.

Step 6: Clear the Panel Alert

  1. Press the message icon at the top right of the panel, then select Messages, Alerts, and Alarms.

  1. Press Ok to acknowledge the alerts. Swipe left or right to exit. Alerts for unresolved issues will persist until resolved.

Tips to Resolve the Tamper Error

  • Ensure batteries fit securely within their compartment.
  • Check that the cover is properly aligned and securely attached.
  • Verify all screws and tabs are fastened tightly.
  • Additional actions may be required at the panel to fully clear the error.
