Wi-Fi Setup


Connecting to Wi-Fi Using Bluetooth (Recommended)

Note: This method will also enroll the device to your account as part of the process.

Step-By-Step Instructions:
  1. Hold the button for 30-35 seconds until the LED on the front of the camera flashes white (If the LED is already flashing white, proceed to the next step).
  2. On a Bluetooth-enabled mobile device, login to your Brinks Home™ app.
  3. Tap More.
  4. Tap Add Device.
  5. Tap Video.
  6. Scroll to find the device or use the Find Device search bar to enter the model number, then tap to select the device to add.
  7. Enter a Device Name, then tap Next.
  8. The app will ask you to confirm the LED is flashing white. Tap Next.
  9. If Bluetooth is not enabled on your mobile device, approve the Bluetooth permission request when prompted, and then tap Next.
  10. Bring your mobile device close to the device being enrolled, then tap Scan.
  11. Allow time for your mobile device to scan for devices in the area.
  12. Select the device to set up. Verify the selected device's MAC address matches the MAC address on the device being enrolled, then tap Connect.
  13. Keep your phone near the device while it connects.
  14. Once your phone is connected to the device, tap to select the Wi-Fi network. Either:
    • Select a known network in My Wi-Fi Networks, or
    • Select a new network in Other Networks, enter the password for the Wi-Fi network, and then tap Connect.
  15. Allow a few minutes for the device to connect to the network.
  16. Once the device connects to the Wi-Fi network, the device continues to complete the install on your account. Once the installation is complete, verify the video device works properly.

If you encounter issues enrolling through Bluetooth, follow the AP Mode steps to connect your camera to your Wi-Fi.


AP Mode

  1. Press and hold the button for 30–35 seconds until the LED blinks white (AP mode).
  2. On your phone or PC, join the network ADC-VDB775 (XX:YY:ZZ) (no password).
  3. Open a browser to 192.168.1.1, then follow prompts to select your home SSID and enter its password.
  4. When setup completes, the LED turns solid green—doorbell is online.

Note: Once connected to Wi-Fi, you will need to enroll the camera to your account through the app or website using the steps listed in this article.


Add Camera Using the Brinks Home Mobile App

Note: The camera must be connected to Wi-Fi first so it can be added to your account.


Step-By-Step Instructions:
  1. Log in to the Brinks Home Mobile App then press Video.
  2. Select Settings by pressing the gear icon in the upper right-hand corner.
  3. Select Add Device +, then select the video device you want to add.
  4. The system should detect the camera. Enter the camera name and click Next.
  5. The camera will be added to your account, which can take several minutes.
  6. When finished, select Live to view images from the newly installed camera.

Add Camera Using the Desktop Website

Note: The camera must be connected to Wi-Fi first so it can be added to your account.


Step-By-Step Instructions:
  1. Log in to the desktop website, then select Video.

  2. Select Settings.

  3. Scroll to the bottom of the page and select Add Video Device.

  4. The system should detect the camera. Enter the camera name and click Install.

  5. The camera will be added to your account, which can take several minutes.

  6. When finished, select Live View to view images from the newly installed camera.

Troubleshooting


No Video Feed

  1. Confirm power: Use a multimeter to verify transformer output is 16–30 VAC.
  2. Inspect wiring: Turn breaker off, remove doorbell, ensure wires are tight and corrosion-free.
  3. Power cycle: Restore power, wait 2 minutes for reboot, then test Live View in the app.
  4. Check signal: Open app → Signal Strength; if <65%, reposition router or add extender.

Wi-Fi Setup Failures

  1. Verify credentials: Re-enter SSID and password exactly (case-sensitive).
  2. Try AP Mode: Follow AP Mode steps to bypass WPS issues.
  3. Try WPS Mode: Follow WPS Mode steps; ensure router supports WPS.
  4. Reset and retry: Perform a Factory Reset, then reconnect.

Intermittent Connectivity

  1. Check bands: Ensure 2.4 GHz is enabled—better range than 5 GHz.
  2. Reduce interference: Keep doorbell and router >1 ft from metal or electronics.
  3. Reposition router: Move closer to doorbell or add a Wi-Fi extender.

Poor Video Quality

  1. Test bandwidth: Run an internet speed test—aim for ≥2 Mbps upload.
  2. Close apps: Stop background downloads/streams on your network.
  3. Clean lens: Wipe doorbell lens with a microfiber cloth.
  4. Avoid glare: Adjust camera angle to minimize backlighting.

Two-Way Audio Issues

  1. Check audio settings: App → VideoSettingsAudio; ensure inbound/outbound are ON.
  2. Grant permissions: On your phone, allow microphone and speaker for the app.
  3. Test call: Initiate Live View and speak clearly into your phone mic.
  4. Power cycle: Remove doorbell, wait 10 s, reattach, wait 2 min, then retry.

No Notifications

  1. Enable alerts: App → Notifications → ensure Doorbell and Motion toggles are ON.
  2. Check phone settings: Allow notifications for Brinks Home™, disable DND or add exception.
  3. Test push: Press and hold the doorbell button for 3 s, confirm push alert arrives.
  4. Restart app: Force-close and reopen the app; check for app updates.

Signal Strength

Check your doorbell’s Wi-Fi signal in the Brinks Home™ App:

  1. Open the Brinks Home™ App.
  2. Tap the Video icon and select ADC-VDB775.
  3. Tap the gear Settings icon (top-right).
  4. Scroll to Signal Strength (%) and note the value.
Signal (%) Status Action
79–100% Excellent No action needed.
66–78% Good Monitor performance; reposition if needed.
0–65% Poor Move router closer, add extender, or contact us at 469-513-8685.

LED Status Reference

Pattern Status Recommended Action
Off No power / standby
  1. Open your breaker panel and turn the doorbell circuit OFF, then ON to test power.
  2. Use a multimeter to verify transformer output is 16–30 VAC.
  3. With breaker OFF, remove doorbell, ensure wires under screws are tight and corrosion-free.
  4. Reattach doorbell, restore power, and confirm the LED lights up.
Flashing Blue WPS pairing mode
  1. Within 2 minutes of blue blinking, press your router’s WPS button.
  2. Wait up to 90 seconds for the LED to turn solid green.
  3. If pairing fails, disable/re-enable WPS on the router and retry, or use AP Mode.
Flashing White AP mode ready
  1. On your phone/PC join the Wi-Fi network “ADC-VDB775 (XX:YY:ZZ)”.
  2. Open a browser to 192.168.1.1.
  3. Select your home SSID, enter its password, then submit.
  4. Wait for the LED to turn solid green, indicating a successful connection.
Solid Green Connected online
  1. Open the Brinks Home™ App or Desktop Portal.
  2. Navigate to Live View and confirm your video feed is active.
  3. If the feed is blank, power cycle the doorbell and retry Live View.
Solid Red Network unreachable
  1. In the app, delete the device and re-enter your Wi-Fi SSID and password exactly (case-sensitive).
  2. Try reconnection via AP Mode or WPS Mode.
  3. If still red, relocate closer to your router or install a Wi-Fi extender.
Flashing Blue/Green Firmware Updating
  1. Allow doorbell to update; do not interact with or remove the doorbell.
  2. Wait up to 5 minutes for the LED to stabilize to solid green.
  3. If still flashing after 10 minutes, power cycle the transformer and monitor again.
Flashing Red/Green Factory reset in progress
  1. Wait 2–3 minutes for the reset to complete without interrupting power.
  2. After reset, follow the Factory Default instructions to set up Wi-Fi and Alarm.com pairing.
Flashing Yellow Power cycling
  1. Wait up to 5 minutes for the LED to stabilize to solid green.
  2. If still flashing after 10 minutes, power cycle the transformer and monitor again.
