Want to know how strong your Brinks Home camera’s connection is? The Brinks Home Mobile App lets you view each camera’s wireless signal strength as a percentage. This guide walks you through checking that percentage, understanding what it means, and improving weak connections.
Step-by-Step Guide
To check your camera’s signal strength:
- Open the Brinks Home Mobile App on your smartphone.
- Tap Video at the bottom of the screen.
- Tap the Settings icon (⚙️) in the top-right corner.
- Scroll down to the Signal Strength section.
- Select the camera you want—its signal percentage appears below its name.

Optimize Your Camera Placement
- Measure current signal: note the percentage in the app before moving anything.
- Clear common obstructions:
- Move at least 3 ft away from microwaves, cordless phones, and Bluetooth speakers.
- Avoid metal doors, filing cabinets, or thick concrete walls between camera and router.
- Adjust height & angle:
- Mount the camera 7–10 ft above the ground for the best line of sight.
- Aim the lens at open areas—not directly at corners or walls.
- Retest signal: refresh the Signal Strength reading in the app.
- Next steps if still poor: add a Wi-Fi extender halfway between router and camera, or consider moving your router closer.
